Job Summary
Emergency Medicine Physician needed to staff Centra's network of four Virginia ERs (Lynchburg General, Bedford Memorial, Gretna, Southside Community) with a collegial, employed group. Roles include 10-hour shifts on a waterfall schedule aligned to patient arrivals, with patient acuity-driven care for the first 8 hours and selective coverage for the last 2 hours; no solo site coverage, active nocturnist program, and option for day/evening-only shifts. Responsibilities span cross-coverage across busy community trauma centers and a free-standing ED, with emphasis on high-quality acute care, shifting to maintain a reasonable patient load of 1.7–2.2 patients per hour. Offers include competitive compensation, sign-on bonus, up to $120k student loan repayment, relocation assistance up to $15,000, CME support, and comprehensive benefits. Requires MD/DO with ABMS board certification (or in process of certifying) and emergency medicine residency/fellowship training.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of medical degree and residency/fellowship training in emergency medicine
- MD/DO with certification by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board in physician's primary specialty. Must be board certified or in the process of certifying.
