Job Summary
Staff emergency departments across four Virginia hospitals with a physician-heavy, employed group. Board-certified or board-eligible emergency physicians will work 10-hour shifts with a waterfall scheduling approach to match patient arrivals; roles include a Nocturnist program with the option of days/evenings only and no scheduled call. Work settings range from busy community trauma centers to free-standing EDs. Expect equitable standing from day one, ample orientation, and opportunities for teaching/student engagement. A typical patient load is 1.7–2.2 patients per hour. Competitive compensation with sign-on bonus, up to $120k in student loan repayment, relocation assistance up to $15,000, CME allowance, retirement plans, and comprehensive benefits are offered. Location-specific context includes Lynchburg, Farmville, Bedford, and Gretna in Virginia; ERP staffing supports a balanced schedule and ample time off around holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of medical degree and residency/fellowship training in emergency medicine
- MD/DO with certification by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board in physician's primary specialty. Must be board certified or in the process of certifying.
