Job Summary
Respond to emergency and non-emergency events by providing assessment, treatment, and transportation of ill or injured persons consistent with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act, SCoP Clinical Practice Protocols, and SHA policies. Utilize sound clinical judgement and critical thinking to adapt to changing conditions while operating emergency vehicles safely and effectively. Perform duties independently or as a member of a team, including safely lifting and loading stretchers, and function effectively in high-stress situations. Maintain a valid Class 4 driver's license, ITLS, CPR, and BLS certifications. Work part-time temporary shifts (0.75 FTE) with 168-hour rotations across days, nights, evenings, weekends, and standby, reporting to the Manager or designate.
Required Qualifications
- Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute
- Valid Class 4 driver's license
- International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS)
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR)
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
- Demonstrated ability to use sound clinical judgement
- knowledge of legislation and regulations which governs practice
- Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care
- Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions
- Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively
- Ability to function effectively in high stress and in emergency situations
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis
- Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System
- Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking
- Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level
