Job Summary
Respond to emergency calls, assess patient conditions, and administer life-saving measures including CPR, airway management, and bleeding control. Safely transport patients to medical facilities while monitoring their status and utilizing essential equipment like defibrillators and oxygen systems. Maintain accurate patient care reports, ensure vehicle readiness, and interpret diagnostic instructions. Work in uncontrolled environments, lift patients up to 250 lbs, and remain calm during high-stress situations. Participate in continuous education to stay current with medical protocols.
Required Qualifications
- BLS required at hire, If not AHA, must obtain AHA BLS within 3 months of hire
- Valid NYS Basic EMT
- Valid Drivers License
- Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires constant walking, standing or squatting
Desired Qualifications
- Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of medical procedures and emergency care techniques
