Job Summary

Conduct instruction in basic out-of-hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients. Manage classroom oversight, including quality objectives, student discipline, and maintaining a safe training environment with sufficient materials. Ascertaining class knowledge levels and controlling behavior while adhering to zero-tolerance policies for inappropriate language. Maintain regular class schedules aligned with course curriculum outlines and ensure all work products conform to USCG Training System Standard Operating Procedures. Achieve satisfactory or above ratings on course evaluations and demonstrate competency on annual feedback forms. Requires 5 years of field EMT experience and 3 years as a primary classroom instructor. Located in Petaluma, CA, with a base rate of $32.65 to $34.92 per hour.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • CPR and National Registry EMT certification
  • 5 years of field experience as a practicing EMT or paramedic
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a primary classroom instructor providing training
  • Maintain focus and awareness throughout scheduled working hours
  • Lift and move objects weighing up to 15 pounds as needed
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong command of the English language
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team
  • Quickly learn and retain routine tasks and processes
  • Possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, business correspondence proficiency, and self-management capabilities
  • Accept and adapt to additional responsibilities or changes to assigned duties as determined by DirectViz Solutions (DVS)

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Allied Health or in educational practices
  • National Registry Advanced EMT or Paramedic certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification
  • Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) certifications
  • CG PERJC (Coast Guard Instructor) certification
  • Work experience aboard a variety of afloat and shore units
