Job Summary
Provide patient care in emergency situations by performing peripheral IV placement, specimen collection, wound care, and vital signs monitoring. Transport patients to diagnostic tests and assist in acute and code scenarios while collaborating with medical staff. Manage patient flow during crowded ER shifts, triage incoming complaints, and facilitate diagnostic studies. Maintain equipment supplies, document procedures, and ensure infection control standards are met.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited EMT-Advanced or EMT-Intermediate training program
- Must have current certification as an EMT-I, EMT-A, or EMT-P
- Must have current certification as an EMT-I, EMT-A, or EMT-P, and CPR
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs max
- Must be able to carry objects up to 35 lbs
- Must be able to stand and walk occasionally to frequently
- Must be able to sit occasionally
- Must be able to perform close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)
- Must be able to work in an environment with blood-borne pathogen exposure
- Must be able to work in an environment with bio-hazardous waste
- Must be able to work in an environment with chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors
- Must be able to work in an environment with communicable diseases
- Must be able to work in an environment with electrical shock risk
- Must be able to work in an environment with floor surface hazards
- Must be able to work in hot/cold temperatures
- Must be able to work in indoor/outdoor conditions
- Must be able to work with latex
- Must be able to work with lighting variations
- Must be able to work with patient care/handling injuries
- Must be able to work with radiation
- Must be able to work shift work
- Must be able to use personal protective equipment, including respirators
- Travel may be required
Desired Qualifications
- One year related experience preferred
- Previous ED experience preferred
