Job Summary
Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls 24 hours per day, driving vehicles in all road conditions including inclement weather and rural off-road settings. Assess patient conditions, perform basic life support procedures, and assist in patient transport while maintaining vehicles and equipment in constant readiness. Communicate verbally with dispatchers, EMS crews, and first responders; complete patient care reports, billing information, and daily checklists. Lift and carry up to 125 pounds, work under physically and psychologically taxing conditions, and pass departmental skills evaluation before staffing.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- Certified as an EMT in the State of Texas
- CPR certification
- 911 Areas – Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
- Communicate effectively
- Read, write, and interpret instructions in the English language
- Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and maintain an insurable driver record
- Must successfully pass departmental skills evaluation and fully complete NEOP process before staffing a truck
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience preferred in emergency care
