Job Summary
Assess patients' conditions to determine appropriate emergency care and administer basic life support interventions including CPR, airway management, oxygen therapy, and bleeding control. Safely transport ill and injured persons to healthcare facilities while adhering to traffic laws and organizational policies. Complete patient care reports, maintain medical equipment, and ensure all supplies are properly stocked and operational. Communicate effectively with patients, families, healthcare providers, and emergency response teams while following all safety protocols and infection control procedures. Maintain clinical competency through ongoing training, skill development, and certification maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Acceptable motor vehicle record as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart
- SC Emergency Medical Technician Basic (SC EMT)
- National Registry of EMT (NREMT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Ability to demonstrate skill proficiency on an annual basis
- Ability to maintain Professional Certifications by Attending In-service Training Programs
- Ability to attend staff meetings
- Ability to comply with Employee Health requirements
- Ability to complete mandatory Employee Training Programs
- Communication skills
- Critical thinking skills
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress, fast-paced environments
Desired Qualifications
- Post-high school diploma/highest degree earned
- Pre-Hospital Care Experience
