Job Summary
The EMT I role provides basic emergency medical care and transportation in pre-hospital settings under supervision, including patient assessment, vital sign monitoring, CPR and first aid, and safe operation of emergency vehicles. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, documenting patient information in the EMR, adhering to infection control and PPE protocols, collaborating with paramedics, nurses, and physicians, and ensuring readiness and safety for patient transfer and continuity of care.
Required Qualifications
- Technical School completion of a state-approved Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training program required
- Technical School EMT Advanced course preferred
- Experience working in a hospital-based emergency department, ambulance service, or critical care transport unit preferred
- Licenses and Certifications: Drivers License - MDOT Medical Physical in state of employment required
- EMT - Emergency Medical Tech Certification from the applicable state EMS authority required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
- State Specific Requirements: Indiana: IDHS EMT Certification
