Job Summary
EMS Instructor position requiring planning, delivering, and assessing EMS courses across classroom, laboratory, simulation, and field-based environments; duties include curriculum development, alignment of course outcomes with master syllabi, program improvement, accreditation compliance, and engagement with advisory committees and workforce development. Responsibilities encompass coordinating EMS clinical, internship, and field experiences; maintaining accurate records; employing evidence-based and inclusive teaching strategies; contributing to recruitment, retention, and student success efforts; and participating in departmental, divisional, and college service while adhering to the Full-Time Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Required credentials include a bachelor’s degree in EMS or related field, active paramedic license in Illinois, Lead Instructor license, CPR/ACLS/PALS, ITLS or PHTLS, and a minimum of three years of paramedic field experience; preferred with a master’s degree and additional teaching/coordination experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in EMS, public safety, healthcare, or related field
- Current State of Illinois paramedic license (or reciprocity within 3 months)
- Current Illinois EMS Lead Instructor license (or reciprocity within 3 months)
- Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- ITLS or PHTLS certification
- Minimum of three (3) years of field experience as a paramedic
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in instructional and professional settings
