Job Summary
Emergency Medical Dispatcher in Jackson, TN handles 911/EMS communications, receives and interprets information via telephone and radio, instructs citizens on life-saving procedures, analyzes emergencies, and initiates dispatch via computer-aided systems. Requires a high school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Emergency Medical Dispatch program; knowledge of 911 operations and emergency communication; preferred prior 911 communications or public safety experience; ability to type 25 wpm, clear spoken English, and to work rotating shifts with overtime; duties include maintaining telecommunications records, following EMS policies, and coordinating with field units while complying with vaccination and employment policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Proof of completion of accredited Emergency Medical Dispatch program
- Current State certification as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher
- Current Basic Life Support card from American Heart Association or equivalent
- Current state license as an EMT-Basic, Advanced EMT, Paramedic or the equivalent preferred but not required
