Job Summary
Emergency Medical Dispatcher provides EMS dispatching, IFT processing, pre-arrival instructions, and deployment of emergency vehicles in emergent and non-emergent situations. Works with call-evaluators and deployment specialists within the EMS Communications Centre, reporting to the Commander/Manager of Regional Communications. Requires Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification, Grade 12, Basic Telecommunicator certification, and CPR Level C; typing speed minimum 40 wpm. Schedule includes days, nights, and weekends with 12-hour shifts across 28 shifts per 8 weeks; salary pay band from the EMS Dispatch scale; HSAS seniority considerations apply.
Required Qualifications
- Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification
- Grade 12
- certification as a Basic Telecommunicator with the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) or equivalent
- Current CPR Level C
