Job Summary
Manage clinical information and coordinate clinical caregivers for the Emergency Department Trauma Center, serving as a vital link for patient flow and team interactions. Triage incoming telephone calls, recognize crisis calls, and coordinate diagnostic services to ensure efficient patient movement across facilities. Monitor WI track for ED diversions and manage patient tracking during disasters, delegating clerical functions and managing equipment requests. Enter patient data into the Electronic Health Record, reconcile tracking boards, and manually process charges during system downtime. Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure accurate documentation while facilitating patient transport and placement with admitting and scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED)
- 1+ years healthcare experience in a health unit coordinator or similar role
- Data base maintenance, data entry and data reporting skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and prioritizing skills
- Critical thinking and crisis intervention skills
- Interpersonal skills necessary to gather and share information with physicians, patients, visitors, families, and team members in a courteous and confidential manner
- Ability to maintain positive communication skills during highly stressful situations
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Understanding of common Emergency Department procedures, tests, treatments and medications
- Knowledge of computer and keyboard, Microsoft Windows and basic word processing skills
- Orientation: If hired attendance will be required the first week at a New Hire Welcome day on Monday from 9a-4p
- 3 days of central care partner orientation from 8a-4:30p on Tuesday, Wed and Thursday that first week
- Thursday session is mandatory
