Job Summary
The Unit Coordinator/Secretary coordinates nursing staff activities, patients, physicians, and other departments to facilitate efficient functioning of the Emergency Department. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties, supports patient flow, orders/admits/discharges/transfers of patients, maintains unit reports and bed/tracking systems, books appointments through central scheduling, and ensures discharge paperwork is correctly processed. Responsibilities span patient experience, technology use (Lotus Notes and department software), unit workflow, supplies management, safety and quality practices, compliance with policies, and patient/family-centered care. The role requires strong communication, organization, and standard clinical terminology understanding; weekend/holiday coverage is noted. Minimum education includes high school diploma or GED preferred; prior exposure to basic medical terminology and computer use is preferred; ability to document accurately and interact effectively with diverse individuals is essential. Shift: 3PM-11:30PM, part-time (evening). Location: Weymouth, MA.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Education - Preferred High School Diploma/GED preferred
- Minimum Work Experience Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred
- Basic computer knowledge is preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately
- Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals
