Job Summary

Respond to medical emergencies with an RN and transport patients to the Emergency Department. Perform clinical procedures including EKGs, glucometry, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing while collecting and sending specimens. Assist with setting up specialty equipment, performing quality control checks, and conducting patient observations under RN direction. Manage code cart and defibrillator maintenance duties, apply immobilization devices as needed, and communicate patient condition changes to the unit-based team. Restock unit supplies and perform out-of-bed/back-to-bed transfers. Requires CPR certification, ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and 12 hours of standing daily.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • CPR certification
  • Medical terminology
  • First Receivers – Operations Level Hazardous Materials Emergency Response
  • Must be able to sit up to 2 hours per day
  • Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours per day
  • Must be able to walk up to 12 hours per day
  • Must be able to consistently lift, carry, and push objects up to 30 pounds
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, and push objects up to 75 pounds
  • Must be able to transport patients weighing up to 400 lbs via wheelchair, bed and/or stretcher
  • Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch
  • Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, and high/low frequencies
  • Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision
