Job Summary

ED Technician combines Nursing Assistant (NA-C) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) duties with Health Unit Coordinator responsibilities to support direct patient care and clerical tasks in the Emergency Department. Responsibilities include transporting patients, documenting vital signs, assisting with procedures (pelvic exams, chest tube placements, wound care, laceration repair, splinting), performing point-of-care testing and ECGs, managing patient charts and registration, coordinating with physicians, nurses, and staff, and ensuring effective communication. Requires NA-C or WA EMT certification, active state registration, Basic Life Support, and ED/ambulance experience preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) course of study or completion of education at the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic level or higher
  • Current NA-C or Washington State EMT Certification. Either must be actively registered with the Washington State Department of Health.
  • If working under an EMT Certification must obtain MA-EMT Certification and maintain during employment
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification
  • One (1) year of Emergency Department or ambulance experience strongly preferred
  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of work flows within the Emergency Department

Desired Qualifications

  • One year of Emergency Department or ambulance experience strongly preferred
  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) course of study or completion of education at the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic level or higher
  • Current NA-C or Washington State EMT Certification. Either must be actively registered with the Washington State Department of Health.
  • If working under an EMT Certification must obtain MA-EMT Certification and maintain during employment
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification
