Job Summary
The ED Technician at Island Health delivers direct patient care and supports clerical functions in the Emergency Department under the direction of RNs and medical staff. This hybrid role combines Nursing Assistant (NA-C) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) responsibilities with Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) coordination, executing patient transports, vital signs documentation, assisting with procedures, point-of-care diagnostics, ECGs, wound care, and various clerical tasks. The position maintains patient care workflows, registers patients, facilitates communication among physicians, nurses, patients, and staff, and supports charting in the EMR, inventory management, and coordination for imaging and labs. The role requires CNA/EMT certification, BLS, and relevant ED experience, with an emphasis on multitasking in high-acuity environments and professional demeanor. Ready to apply? Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) course of study or completion of education at the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic level or higher
- Current NA-C or Washington State EMT Certification. Either must be actively registered with the Washington State Department of Health.
- If working under an EMT Certification must obtain MA-EMT Certification and maintain during employment.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification.
