Job Summary
Assist staff by performing clerical and patient care duties under the direction of an RN, including maintaining and updating patient records, acknowledging customers, and performing delegated direct patient care activities. Report patient conditions and changes to the Primary Nurse, Charge Nurse, or Provider while correctly completing, documenting, and communicating physician orders. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, infection prevention, and patient quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical outcomes. Maintain a well-organized, appropriately stocked, and clean work environment conducive to workflow. Requires a current American Heart Association BLS certification, Fundamentals of Nursing course completion, and experience as an ED Technician or Patient Care Technician. Scheduled weekly hours are 36, with work shifts on days.
Required Qualifications
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card
- Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination
- Completed Fundamentals of Nursing course or a Nursing Assistant Program
- Experience as an ED Technician or Patient Care Technician in an acute care or nursing home setting
- Knowledge of clerical procedures and medical terminology
- Skill in English grammar and spelling
- Neat, legible handwriting
- Ability to file and maintain patient records, files and reports
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to use office equipment, such as multi-line telephones, computer terminals and printers
- Knowledge of patient care tasks and techniques to provide nursing care
- Ability to report changes in the patient's condition to the professional nurse
- Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe working environment
- Skill in maintaining patient care record
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekends/holidays
