Job Summary
Assist in the care of patients by performing various duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse, including data collection, treatments, and procedures according to established hospital policy. Prepare the patient environment for receiving patients and accompany patients through admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Appropriately place patients on cardiac monitors as instructed and handle personal property, including prosthetic devices and medical equipment, from admission through discharge. Function appropriately during emergencies and crisis situations. Requires CNA certification or EMT-B certification, BLS, and current ED experience preferred. Located in Bethpage at St. Joseph Hospital, a member of Catholic Health, serving approximately 33,000 patients annually.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of a duly authorized CNA Training program with CNA certification
- EMT-B certification
- Nursing Student enrolled in a Nursing program who has completed Fundamentals of Nursing including a clinical rotation
- BLS from American Heart Association
- Computer literate
- Ability to read and write basic English
