Job Summary
Prepare the operating room by organizing sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures. Maintain the sterile field by passing instruments, assisting surgeons, and supporting the surgical team throughout procedures. Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and supply counts while assisting with specimen handling and dressing application. Operate and monitor surgical equipment, including sterilizers, suction devices, lights, and other operating room equipment. Assist with equipment maintenance, inventory management, sterilization processes, and operating room readiness in collaboration with the Circulating RN. This PRN Surgical Technologist role at Grand River Health in Rifle, CO, requires current BLS certification and 6 months to 4 years of experience in a similar role.
Required Qualifications
- Current American Heart Association approved BLS certification required upon hire and must be maintained throughout employment with GRHD
- Ability to safely lift, move, and secure patients of all ages
- Proficiency in required clinical and computer systems expected within six months of hire
Desired Qualifications
- Training as a Paramedic, Practical EMT, Medical Assistant, Certified Nurse Assistant, or related healthcare training preferred
- 6 months to 4 years of experience in a similar role preferred
- Strong communication, listening, teamwork, decision-making, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to follow instructions and use sound judgment in stressful situations
