Job Summary
ED Technician provides bedside care and assists the nursing staff in the Emergency Department during the night shift. Duties include performing routine care, executing specialized technical skills, reporting unusual incidents, and maintaining patient safety for a group of patients. Requires a High School diploma or GED, CNA/EMT-PCT experience, and a current BLS certification (or obtain within 3 months of hire). The role emphasizes adherence to hospital standards and procedures and involves lifting at least 20 pounds and standing/walking for extended periods.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or GED
- 1 year experience as a CNA in an acute care hospital setting OR 1 year experience as an EMT-Basic on an ambulance crew OR 1 year experience as a Patient Care Technician
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an ILCOR-approved provider (e.g., American Heart Association)
- If not certified at time of hire, obtain BLS certification within 3 months of start date
- Physical ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods and lift at least 20 pounds
