Job Summary
Provide both basic and advanced life support to patients in the Emergency Department, including obtaining vital signs, informing clinicians of changes, collecting samples, catheterization, wound care, splinting, performing 12-lead EKGs, assisting with patient movement and admissions/discharges, maintaining charts, infection prevention standards, and coordination with RNs and Physicians. Responsibilities also include assisting with discharge instructions, obtaining and distributing supplies, and supporting the interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced hospital setting.
Required Qualifications
- Current Basic EMT or Paramedic license in state of practice
- EMT certification acceptable if state or national certification is held
- Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) Certification for Healthcare Providers upon hire
- IV certification required upon hire
- Colorado: EMT-Basic must have state approved IV certification at time of hire
- Montana: EMTs must obtain IV certification within six months of hire date
