Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the emergency department, including multi-system biophysical and psychosocial assessments, medication administration, and discharge planning. Coordinate patient activities with other health care disciplines, establish acuity priorities, and document care accurately in the EMR while initiating emergency measures per protocol. Requires minimum nine months of RN experience with one year of current ED experience, Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification, and a Registered Nurse License in Oregon. Schedule includes 30 hours per week at night shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience
- One (1) year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the ED
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire OR Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within 6 months of hire
- Registered Nurse License (Oregon)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire
- Basic Life Support
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Computer keyboarding skills
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course
Desired Qualifications
- Previous health care experience
- Bachelors degree in nursing or related field
- CEN preferred
- TNCC preferred
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias preferred
- A desire and ability to function within the nursing process preferred
- A desire and ability to function within professional and personnel standards as defined
- Ability to use and apply effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills preferred
