Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for emergency department patients by performing multi-system assessments, administering medications, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. Initiate protocol-based measures for medical and surgical patients, accurately document care in the EMR, and classify acuity levels. Reassess patients throughout hospitalization and develop individualized teaching plans. Requires nine months of RN experience with one year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program. Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support required at hire.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience
- One (1) year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the Emergency Department
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Basic Life Support required at hire
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within 6 months of hire OR Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire
- Registered Nurse License (Oregon)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire
- Computer keyboarding skills
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course
Desired Qualifications
- Previous health care experience
- Bachelors degree in nursing or related field
- CEN preferred
- TNCC preferred
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias preferred
- A desire and ability to function within the nursing process preferred
- A desire and ability to function within professional and personnel standards as defined
- Ability to use and apply effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills preferred
