Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the Emergency Department by performing accurate multi-system assessments, administering medications, and initiating protocol-based measures for medical and surgical conditions. Coordinate discharge planning with hospital and community agencies, develop individualized teaching plans, and document all care activities accurately in the EMR. Classify patient acuity levels and delegate tasks appropriately while participating in unit quality assurance activities. Requires one year of current ED experience, a registered nurse license in Oregon, and certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience
- One (1) year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the Emergency Department
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Basic Life Support required at hire
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within 6 months of hire OR Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire
- Registered Nurse License (Oregon)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire
- Computer keyboarding skills
Desired Qualifications
- Previous health care experience
- Bachelors degree in nursing or related field
- CEN preferred
- TNCC preferred
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias preferred
- A desire and ability to function within the nursing process preferred
- A desire and ability to function within professional and personnel standards as defined
- Ability to use and apply effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills preferred
