Job Summary
Greet patients, coordinate patient flow to reduce wait times, and assist with intake processes for walk-in patients and visitors. Confirm eligibility, verify insurance benefits, and obtain accurate demographic and billing information for entry into the computer system. Schedule appointments using computerized programs, explain financial responsibilities and payment options, and counsel patients on insurance benefits or financial assistance. Accept co-pays and communicate effectively with insurance companies, external agencies, and team members while managing the fast pace of emergency department registration.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1+ years of customer service experience
- Ability to work any full-time shift between the hours of 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, including the flexibility to work overtime and weekends based on business need
- Must be 18 years of age OR older
- UnitedHealth Group is a drug-free workplace. Candidates are required to pass a drug test before beginning employment.
Desired Qualifications
- 1+ years of related work experience, including data entry
- Experience in emergency department
- Working knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology
