Job Summary
Night-shift Emergency Department leadership role supporting the Nurse Manager in directing a specific clinical unit. Partner with the nurse manager to mentor staff, lead performance reviews, and ensure delivery of high-quality patient care. Responsible for staffing, budgeting, and operational oversight, promoting staff recruitment and retention, and fostering teamwork across physicians, staff, patients, and other departments. Drives evidence-based practice, quality and safety initiatives, and compliance with licensure and accreditation standards while developing staff and pursuing Lean or other quality-improvement strategies to optimize care delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Nursing degree (Required Minimum Education: Bachelors Nursing or Masters Nursing)
- RN license (Single State) or RN-Compact (Multi-state)
- BLS - Basic Life Support (or Instructor/ARC variants)
- National certification in nursing administration (Upon Hire)
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to coach and mentor others and support progressive nursing management roles
- Understanding health care financing, strategy, and operations for managing a patient care unit
- Ability to use data and technology to support work processes and decision making
- Experience with shared governance or collaborative decision making
- Knowledge of risk management and accreditation/regulatory/licensing requirements
