Job Summary

Triage incoming patients and guide them toward care while assisting with treatments, nursing, and diagnostics including bloodwork, imaging, and oxygen support. Collaborate with credentialed technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases, manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration. Join patient rounds to ensure continuity of care and learn CPR and RECOVER Certified Rescuer protocols. Work in a fast-paced, noisy environment with strong odors, standing for prolonged periods and lifting up to 25 kg. This role offers a path to becoming a credentialed technician with guided training in ultrasound and catheterization. Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to stand for prolonged hours
  • Ability to kneel
  • Ability to work on the floor
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg on own
  • Ability to support up to 40 kg with assistance
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis based on hospital demands
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well with people from all backgrounds and different personality types

Desired Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program
  • 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role
  • Emergency or specialty experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Understanding of practice management software
  • Understanding of electronic medical record keeping
  • Excellent communication skills when collaborating with pet parents and your team
  • Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment
  • Willingness to work in a noisy environment
  • Willingness to work with strong or unpleasant odors
  • Empathetic nature with a people-centric approach
