Job Summary
Per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician at VEG in Knoxville, TN, joining a front-line ER team handling cases from minor to complex emergencies. You’ll perform triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical-care nursing, support pet parents, contribute to plans and care flow, and be prepared to perform CPR. Responsibilities include IVs, CRIs, blood transfusions, diagnostics and imaging, anesthesia for fragile patients, use of central lines, endoscopy, ultrasounds, and other advanced techniques. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, state-credentialed CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT, AVMA-accredited program preferred, 1+ year veterinary technician experience (emergency or specialty preferred), strong communication, ability to work nights/weekends/holidays, and ability to lift up to 25 kg. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program strongly preferred
- Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state where the VEG practice is located
- VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia is a plus
- 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; experience in emergency or specialty medicine preferred
- Basic computer skills and comprehension of practice management software and electronic medical records
- Excellent communicator and calm under pressure
- Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and lift up to 25 kg and assist up to 40 kg
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis
- Must be able to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
