Job Summary
Per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician in Fort Myers, FL. You’ll handle a wide range of emergency veterinary cases, from triage to treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing. Responsibilities include IVs/CRIs, blood transfusions, placing tubes, imaging, endoscopy, ultrasounds, and advanced techniques; collaborate with doctors and team to deliver compassionate, high-standard care; CPR readiness and RECOVER CPR training emphasis. Requires state-credentialed veterinary technician (CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT) with 1+ year of experience, AVMA-accredited program preferred, and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced emergency setting. Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program strongly preferred
- Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located is required
- VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia is a plus
- 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred
- Basic computer skills and understanding of practice management software and electronic medical records
- Excellent communicator and calm under pressure; able to lend a hand to support those around you
- Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and lift up to 25 kg on own and up to 40 kg with assistance
- Willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as-needed basis
- Work well in a fast-paced environment with diverse backgrounds
