Job Summary
Per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician at VEG in Encinitas, CA. You’ll work on the front lines of emergency veterinary care, performing triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing. Responsibilities include delivering nursing care, IVs/CRIs, blood transfusions, CPR, and advanced techniques (central lines, endoscopy, ultrasounds), communicating effectively with the team, and supporting pet parents through emergencies. Requires high school diploma/equivalent; an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology degree is strongly preferred; current state credential as a veterinary technician (CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT); 1+ year of experience in veterinary tech, with emergency or specialty medicine experience preferred. Compensation ranges from $27-$56 per hour, with flexible schedules; applicable benefits and referral programs are provided. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, in a fast-paced, noisy environment with potential for lifting up to 40 kg with assistance.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program strongly preferred; credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state of practice required; VTS in ECC or related areas a plus; 1+ years in veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred
