Job Summary
Per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to support front-line emergency veterinary care in VEG hospitals. Responsibilities include triage, nursing care, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing; administer medications and fluids (IVs, CRIs), support CPR, and assist with advanced techniques (central lines, endoscopy, ultrasounds); collaborate with doctors to plan and maintain patient care, and communicate effectively with pet parents. Requires a veterinary technician credential (CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT) in the practice state and 1+ year of experience, with AVMA accreditation preferred; availability for nights, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program strongly preferred
- Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state where the VEG practice is located
- VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia a plus
- 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred
- Basic computer skills and EMR experience
- Excellent communication and ability to work under pressure
- Fine motor skills and ability to stand/kneel for prolonged periods; lift up to 25 kg (40 kg with assistance)
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis
- Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong odors
