Job Summary
Per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician at VEG in Brookhaven, GA. You will be on the front lines of emergency veterinary care, handling triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing while collaborating with doctors and the team. Responsibilities include nursing care from first triage to discharge, administering medications and monitoring (IVs, CRIs, blood transfusions), providing emotional support to clients, communicating effectively with teammates, and participating in advanced techniques and procedures (diagnostics, imaging, CPR, anesthesia, central lines, endoscopy, ultrasounds). Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a credentialed veterinary technician license in the state, 1+ years of experience in a vet tech role (EMERGENCY/SPECIALTY preferred), strong computer and EMR skills, excellent communication, physical stamina for long shifts, ability to lift, and availability for nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state of the VEG practice location
- 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred
- AVMA-accredited program for associate’s degree or higher strongly preferred
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with practice management software/Electronic Medical Records
- Excellent communication and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, lift up to 25 kg and assist up to 40 kg
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as-needed basis
- Ability to work in a noisy environment with strong odors
