Job Summary
Conduct all aspects of in vitro fertilization procedures under direct supervision, including media preparation, ovum pick up, maintaining cell cultures, insemination, testicular aspiration or biopsy, fertilization checks, blastocyst culture, embryo transfer via catheter, cryopreservation, thawing, assisted hatching, and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Perform andrology duties such as semen analysis and preparation for ART procedures. Maintain accurate laboratory records, quality control, equipment calibration, and CDC/SART reporting data. Identify and resolve problems affecting patient test results while adhering to Joint Commission safety regulations and infection control protocols. Compile accurate data for regulatory reporting and perform routine laboratory maintenance and supply ordering.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university
- One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
- Knowledge and in-depth understanding of chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science and medical technology
- Knowledge and proficiency in human gamete cryopreservation
- Knowledge and proficiency in micromanipulation Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
- Knowledge and proficiency in stem cell culture and somatic cell nuclear transfer
- Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
- Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility
- Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes
- Ability to apply judgment and make informed decisions
- Ability to conduct analysis and formulate conclusions
- Ability to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines
