Job Summary

Embryologist II or III performs advanced ART laboratory procedures under the Lab Director/Supervisor, collaborating with physicians and other departments. The role includes independent proficiency in serum/media preparation, sperm preparation for ICSI and conventional insemination, egg retrievals, cumulus cell removal, conventional and ICSI inseminations with fertilization goals, embryo grading and transfer success metrics, embryo vitrification and warming, and advanced IVF procedures (ICSI, embryo biopsy, tubing, oocyte vitrification/warming). The Embryologist III provides daily oversight, training, quality control, and autonomous weekend management, with responsibility for documentation, equipment maintenance, supply management, compliance with ASRM standards and regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement of lab processes. Requires strong attention to detail, ability to interpret SOPs, and collaboration with physicians and Lab Director to ensure excellent patient experience and outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, Reproductive Biology or Animal Science required
  • Meet the College of American Pathologists (CAP) requirement for the number of Biology and/or Chemistry hours (60 semester hours that include 24 semester hours which must include 6 hours of chemistry, 6 hours of biology and 12 hours of a combination of biology, chemistry, or medical laboratory technology in any combination)
  • Technical Supervisor (TS), preferred
  • Meet state specific certifications/licensure requirements, if applicable
  • 2-3 years' work experience in an IVF lab, strongly preferred for level II
  • 5 years’ work experience in an IVF lab, strongly preferred for level III
  • Successfully completed a minimum of 30 supervised procedures for new skills (30 of each type of procedure)
  • Successfully completed a minimum of 20 independent procedures

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, Reproductive Biology or Animal Science
  • Meet CAP requirements: 60 biology/chemistry hours with specified distribution
  • Technical Supervisor (TS) preferred
  • State-specific certifications/licensure, if applicable
  • 2-3 years IVF lab experience strongly preferred for Embryologist II
  • 5 years IVF lab experience strongly preferred for Embryologist III
  • Minimum of 30 supervised procedures and 20 independent procedures
