Job Summary

Architect, build, and own major areas of the embedded safety controller, spanning drivers, RTOS, communication, middleware, and applications. Control the base machine and monitor system health with strict isolation and deterministic real-time execution. Interface with and control a broad range of heavy machinery across manufacturers, designing abstractions that keep the system flexible and portable. Extend the platform to embedded devices for power management, sensor cleaning, and lighting to ensure operation in harsh field conditions. This role supports Bedrock's deployment of autonomous systems on construction equipment, working alongside veterans from Waymo and Uber Freight to solve physical-world problems.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience building and shipping embedded systems in robotics, automotive, drones, or other safety-critical embedded contexts
  • Strong embedded programming skills in a systems language such as C++ or Rust
  • Fluency in Python for scripting and analysis
  • Solid foundation building software for resource constrained systems with real-time requirements
  • Comfortable developing, automating, and debugging across the hardware/software boundary
  • Track record of leading projects, driving design decisions, and working effectively across hardware, autonomy, and platform teams

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Rust in production or embedded systems
  • Familiarity with automotive and industrial networking and protocols including CAN, Ethernet, and J1939
  • Experience developing software to meet functional safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or DO-178C
