Embedded Software Engineer - Body Systems

Job Summary

Design, develop, and test embedded software for body, thermal, lighting, and door functions of the Zoox vehicle. Create software requirements, design documentation, test plans, and other supporting documentation. Integrate supplier sub-systems into the Zoox software stack and work cross-functionally with vehicle, controls, and electrical engineers to ensure a seamless automated rider experience. Contribute to all phases of the software development cycle including prototyping, requirements capture, design, implementation, and validation. This role sits within the Firmware Body Systems team developing the first ground-up fully autonomous vehicle fleet.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of experience developing real-time embedded software for distributed electro-mechanical systems
  • Strong C++/C programming experience and object oriented programming
  • Experience with embedded micro-controllers and/or microprocessors (ARM, PowerPC or equivalent)
  • Understanding of various sensors, motors, actuators
  • Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up and system debugging

Desired Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of control systems for electromechanical systems
  • Experience with CAN, LIN analysis, and debugging tools (PCAN, CANalyzer, CANape, etc.)
