Job Summary
Design, develop, and maintain embedded software applications using C and/or C++ within complex engineering environments. Support software architecture, coding, testing, and verification activities while integrating software with hardware platforms and wider system architectures. Debug and optimise software performance across target environments and produce technical documentation and design artefacts. Collaborate with systems, electronics, and test engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions. This role requires 3 days per week on-site in Plymouth and involves obtaining SC security clearance. You will contribute throughout the software lifecycle to support sustainable transformation in sectors including Aeronautics, Aerospace, and Defence.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ Years Experience
- Security Clearance: Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain SC clearance
- On-site Requirement: 3 Days Per Week
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or relevant technical military background with equivalent experience
- Proven experience developing embedded software using C and/or C++ within complex engineering environments
- Experience working with Linux-based or real-time operating systems
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design principles, and lifecycle development processes
- Experience integrating software with hardware platforms and supporting system-level integration activities
- Knowledge of software verification, validation, debugging, and performance optimisation techniques
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high engineering standards
- Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
- Strong technical documentation and review capabilities
Desired Qualifications
- Experience using Git or similar version control tools
- Knowledge of sensor integration and data processing applications
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
- Experience working within requirements-driven engineering environments
