Embedded Software Control Systems Engineer

Job Summary
Lead project execution across cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliverables for Advanced Technical Work (ATW) projects in the internal combustion engine domain. Develop control methods and controller software code, then verify these methods on SIL/HIL test benches, engine start carts, or development vehicles. Perform emission testing on engine dynamometers or vehicles to demonstrate system performance meets project goals and regulatory requirements. Support ATW projects through all gates to ensure successful implementation on production programs. This role combines strong ICE control fundamentals with disciplined execution in a technically complex environment, requiring proficiency with tools like INCA, Indicom, and MATLAB/Simulink.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or software engineering
- 2+ years in propulsion system controls, software, or calibration
- Knowledge in the internal combustion engine control domain: startability, open and closed loop fuel control, emission reduction and aftertreatment methods
- Proficient with vehicle interface and data analysis tools such as INCA, Indicom, Concerto, and Vehicle Spy
- Strong programming skills
- Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink
- Ability to effectively communicate with leadership/decision makers
- Capable of working autonomously with limited direction from leadership
- This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, Michigan three times per week, at minimum.
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in electrical, mechanical or software engineering
- 5+ years of tailpipe emissions calibration
- Experience in C coding for embedded software
- Experience with embedded software development tools (Git/Gerrit)
- Understanding rapid prototyping platforms: ETAS, d-SPACE
- An understanding of Global B/VIP/SDV electrical architecture
- Experience successfully leading large ambiguous projects
- Familiarity with simulation tools: GT Power Suite, Amesim, GMSIM
