Job Summary
Embedded/Hardware Engineer needed to spearhead high‐performance on‐board data processing and embedded hardware development for satellite/space systems. Responsibilities include leading technical activities in embedded hardware, architecture and design contributions, developing FPGA/processor‐based embedded solutions, implementing algorithms on FPGAs and embedded processors using VHDL, C/C++, Python, rapid prototyping, supporting ESA/Horizon Europe tendering, producing ESA‐compliant documentation, and collaborating with software/firmware teams. Requires a Master’s degree or PhD in a related field, at least 1 year in space/high‐reliability embedded systems, strong knowledge of embedded systems and Unix, proficiency in C/C++, Python, FPGA development, ECSS standards, and experience with distributed computing and AI/ML lifecycles; foreign language skills (Greek/German/French) are a bonus. Location options include Athens or Heraklion with hybrid arrangements Case‐by‐case.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, AI, or related field
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the space industry or in an equivalent high‐reliability embedded systems domain
- Practical experience in ESA projects or European R&D programs
- Strong knowledge of embedded systems and Unix‐based environments
- Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and scripting tools
- Experience with FPGA development and implementation flows
- Familiarity with ECSS standards, on‐board software development, and verification practices
- Competence in algorithm implementation for resource‐constrained systems
- Experience in distributed computing, cloud/edge computing, computer vision, containerization, hypervisors, space/time partitioning
- Understanding of AI/ML development lifecycles and common NN architectures (CNNs, RNNs, LSTMs, MobileNet, UNet, ResNet, TinyYOLO)
- Nice to have: Greek, German, French language
