Embedded Flight Software Engineer – Level 5

Job Summary

Design, develop, integrate, and test software managing a Space payload unit using C++, Linux, and Python. Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate on data processing systems while performing peer reviews of software designs and technical documents. Participate in cross-functional scrum teams to implement solutions for complex technical problems and prioritize recommendations for internal and external customers. Work a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off in a 100% onsite environment. Obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance to begin work.

Required Qualifications

  • Relocation assistance may be available
  • 10% of the Time travel
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or another STEM discipline
  • Minimum of 12+ years software development experience working on embedded real-time systems
  • 10+ years with a Master's Degree
  • 8 years with a Ph.D.
  • Proficient in Object Oriented programming using C++
  • Proficient in all areas of the formal software lifecycle process from requirements to testing
  • Experience integrating low-level firmware and software in complex real-time multi-threaded embedded applications
  • Experience integrating developed software applications, to include usage of tools and logs to examine data to verify correct operation and identify problem areas
  • Experience and ability to mentor, review work products, and provide meaningful feedback
  • Experience in embedded software development and cross-compiling
  • Experience developing in a Linux environment
  • Experience with using software configuration management tools
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI
  • 9/80 schedule
  • Every other Friday off
  • 100% onsite
  • No telecommute work

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as a member of an Agile Scrum team
  • Experience with developing software in Python
  • Experience in embedded C++ optimizations
  • Familiarity with Linux kernel driver development/modifications
  • Experience debugging with GDB
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
  • Hands-on hardware integration and testing experience
  • Ability to debug complex integrated applications or test setup issues
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
