Job Summary
Design, develop, and test embedded firmware for AI-enabled camera systems using C/C++ in Embedded Linux environments. Optimize ISP pipelines, video encoding/decoding modules, and manage power consumption for edge deployment while ensuring robust data integrity and security. Collaborate with hardware teams on low-level hardware-software co-design, interpret data sheets, and resolve complex issues like streaming latency, frame reordering, and memory bottlenecks using specialized debugging tools. Develop unit, integration, and system-level tests to validate features in real and simulated environments, adhering to test-driven development principles and Geotab's development standards. Maintain accurate technical documentation for firmware architectures and interfaces, conducting comprehensive code reviews to ensure industry coding standards are followed.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of technical experience in development of image processing pipelines, video streams, object-oriented design, multithreaded programming, unit testing, and Linux platform development (user-space)
- Post-secondary Diploma/Degree with specialization in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and work experience)
- High proficiency in C/C++ for concurrent systems, experience in preemptive, multi-threaded Embedded Linux / Android environments, and proficiency in scripting languages like Bash or Python
- Expertise in troubleshooting camera-specific issues (e.g., frame synchronization, memory bottlenecks, stream stability) and performance profiling (CPU/Memory/Power) on embedded SoCs
- Practical knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components, microcontrollers, communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, MIPI-CSI), and hardware-software integration on embedded targets
- Experience or familiarity with test frameworks (Pytest, Robot Framework), version control and task management tools (GIT, SQL, JIRA), CI/CD pipelines, and Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational abilities with a high attention to detail
- Comfortable, entrepreneurial mindset in a flat organizational structure
