Job Summary
Embalmer – Spring Grove Funeral Home supports a centralized care center serving over 2,000 families annually across Cincinnati locations. Responsibilities include conducting embalming and decedent preparation/restoration, decedent transportation (including airport transport and deliveries to satellite locations), assisting funeral directors and families with ritual washings and family-involved body preparations, decedent check-ins and documentation, cremation preparation (including pacemaker removal), receiving products from vendors, ensuring a respectful and confidential handling of decedents, and compliance with safety protocols. The role may involve training mortuary students and apprentices, and performing other duties as assigned. Work is performed in a professional office environment with standard office equipment; travel to local campuses may be required. Full-time exempt position, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with every fourth weekend.
Required Qualifications
- Hold an Ohio Funeral Directors and Embalmer’s license or be able to reciprocate to obtain an Embalmer’s license
- 3-5 years’ experience as an Embalmer
- High level of compassion and integrity
- Ability to manage distressing and stressful situations with sensitivity and care
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Thorough understanding of methods for comforting people during grief
- Technologically competent and able to pick up new software programs quickly (Teams, Microsoft, SharePoint, and Passare helpful)
- Acceptable driving record
- Displays a “Customer First” attitude
