Job Summary
Perform all duties related to the care and preparation of human remains, including embalming, dressing, cosmetics, and casketing while maintaining the highest standard of customer care. Exercise judgment and discretion to determine when and how tasks are accomplished with little direct supervision. Ensure decedents are treated with complete respect and maintain designated inventory, materials, and supplies as assigned. Follow proper use of universal precautions, assure the prep room is clean and disinfected, and set up viewing areas as directed. Transfer deceased to and from funeral homes, ensure timely and accurate paperwork, and maintain strict confidentiality on all family information. Respond cooperatively to requests for assistance and assist with oversight of apprentices.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Mortuary Science
- Two years of embalming experience
- California State Embalmer's License
- State of California Driver's License
- Practicing Catholic with general knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent phone skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Professional temperament and appearance
- Ability to work and relate to a variety of personalities and cultures with diplomacy, friendliness and poise
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
