Job Summary

Conduct single-gender discussions with men and boys to foster social cohesion and enhance the safety of women and girls in Afghan refugee and host communities. Organize accountability group sessions, facilitate focus groups, and lead behavioral change trainings on gender norms and GBV prevention. Build relationships with local leaders and stakeholders to promote community acceptance of IRC activities and support recruitment of community focal points. Collect, compile, and analyze monthly reports while coordinating with MHPSS and livelihoods teams to ensure referrals for counseling and skills training.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, humanities, social sciences, psychology, or related field
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience, including implementing GBV prevention in Afghan refugee camps
  • Experience working in integrated or multisectoral programs involving refugee and host communities
  • Experience in facilitating training and/or focus group discussions at the community level
  • Clear understanding of the impact and dynamics of GBV on women and girls in Pashtun culture
  • Experience of providing behavioral change training on sensitive issues
  • Experience in working on the development and/or contextualization of training materials and toolkits
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Word/Excel
  • Interest in individual attitude and behavior change, including for oneself
  • Good understanding of protection and GBV issues, including gender inequality and root causes of GBV
  • Good listening and communication skills
  • Experience working in the Afghan community, preferably providing prevention and/or response services
  • Experience in facilitating group discussions with the outcome of behavioral changes, especially on gender norms
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication in English, Urdu, Pashto and Dari

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, humanities, social sciences, psychology, or related field preferred
  • Experience working in integrated or multisectoral programs involving refugee and host communities is preferred
  • Experience in facilitating training and/or focus group discussions at the community level
  • Experience of providing behavioral change training on sensitive issues
  • Experience in working on the development and/or contextualization of training materials and toolkits would be an asset
  • Language Skills: Proficient in verbal and written communication in English, Urdu, Pashto and Dari (desirable)
