Job Summary
Translate and interpret between English and other languages for students and families. Act as a liaison between the school and English Learner families, assisting teachers with instructional groups and clerical duties. Support students academically as directed by teachers while maintaining an orderly classroom and supervising students. Maintain accurate student records and confidentiality. Use technology tools effectively, including Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms. Administer individual tests when needed. Work in an office or school setting with occasional meetings outside the school day.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to translate written materials and interpret conversations to and from English.
- Knowledge of English language development.
- Knowledge of different cultures and ability to share that knowledge with students and staff.
- Ability to work effectively with English Learner students, families, and school staff.
- Ability to assist individual students or groups with academic tasks.
- Ability to collaborate with ELL and general education teachers.
- Understanding and application of classroom and building procedures.
- Ability to follow directions and work independently.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate student records and confidentiality.
- Ability to use technology, including Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms.
- Ability to maintain an orderly classroom and assist with student supervision.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to translate and interpret.
- Experience with translating and interpreting.
- Ability to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
Desired Qualifications
- Paraeducator certificate preferred.
- Successful experience working with children preferred.
- Familiarity with Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms preferred.
