Job Summary
Assist ELL students in English language development by interpreting directions, observing activities, and providing academic support through reading and guided practice. Prepare instructional materials with teacher guidance and reinforce learning during transitions, lunch, and recess. Supervise students throughout the school day and use positive reinforcement to manage behavior. Attend parent/teacher conferences as required and maintain professional growth through mandatory training. Work a 190-day calendar with a 7.5-hour day.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, HiSET, or G.E.D
- Ability to relate to students
- Knowledge of second language acquisition and instruction
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse workforce and student population
- Effective written and oral communication
- Basic computer skills
- Maintain confidentiality
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
