Job Summary
Eligibility Worker performs interviews with county residents to determine initial and ongoing eligibility for federal/state public assistance programs. Responsibilities include explaining application procedures, maintaining client accounts, completing reports, and processing referrals related to welfare fraud. The role covers a broad range of programs (income maintenance, SNAP, Medical Assistance, Child Care Assistance, IV-E, adoption assistance, housing support, and related services) and requires proficiency with MAXIS, MMIS, PRISM, MEC2, ISDS, and related systems. The position is on-site in Cambridge, MN, full-time (40 hours/week), non-exempt, and part of the Teamsters Local 320 Family Services Union. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and experience assisting the public with eligibility and benefit programs; strong interviewing, math, documentation, and communication skills; ability to work independently and adapt to policy changes; and the ability to interact with diverse populations and maintain records.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Moderate experience assisting the general public with the application and eligibility process of assistance programs
- Ability to interview and determine eligibility for income maintenance programs (e.g., SNAP, Medical Assistance, Child Care Assistance)
- Knowledge of MAXIS, MMIS, PRISM, MEC2, SIR, SMI
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports
- Ability to work independently and tolerate policy/procedure changes
- Ability to navigate MAXIS, MMIS, PRISM, METS, and MEC2
- Ability to manage and distribute Emergency Assistance Funds
- Ability to interact with diverse populations and ensure safety
- Ability to adhere to schedules and attendance requirements
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations
