Job Summary
Eligibility Specialist I provides in-person patient advocacy to assess eligibility for financial assistance programs (Medicaid, Medicare, Disability, hospital charity). Meet with patients and families at bedside or in-person, guide through complex applications, coordinate with hospital staff and government agencies, manage a high case load to meet deadlines, ensure HIPAA-compliant recordkeeping, and support operational needs across nearby locations. Requires high school diploma or GED, English and Spanish proficiency, and 1+ year in a customer-facing role; schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm at Olympia Fields Hospital, IL. Salary range $20.00-$24.00 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Proficiency in English and Spanish
- 1+ years of experience in a customer-facing role (financial counseling, healthcare, social services, or similar environments preferred)
- Basic knowledge of state and federal assistance programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security Disability
