Job Summary
Eligibility Advisor I position with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (AES division) focuses on interviewing applicants to determine financial eligibility for SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, and related programs, entering data into a computer-based eligibility system, and computing/authorizing benefits in compliance with state and federal regulations. The role emphasizes accuracy, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong communication, and providing high-quality customer service while supporting clients to access essential public assistance. The position includes potential overtime and may require weekend work; training is provided and advancement opportunities exist within the program.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter hours from an accredited college or university preferred
- One (1) year of customer service experience with public contact
- Thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of required experience
- Experience in an environment interviewing clients and gathering personal information in-person or over the phone is preferred
